Atomic Clock
An atomic clock provides greater stability for network timekeeping
Keeping accurate time on a network has become a critical business function. Synchronizing time accurately across a network helps ensure that digital signatures are valid, server log files are accurate, systems run properly, security controls are in place and that electronic business transactions come off without a hitch. The best way to keep highly accurate time is to employ a time server with an atomic clock. While time servers that lack an atomic clock can still deliver accurate time through a connection to GPS satellites, an atomic clock built in to the time server provides greater reliability and more accurate time in the event that the connection to the GPS satellite is lost. For leading time servers with affordable atomic clock options, enterprises around the world choose Symmetricom.
Symmetricom delivers leading NTP servers with atomic clock option
Symmetricom's GPS Network Time Server is a Next Generation Network device that comes with an atomic clock option for extraordinarily accurate and affordable timekeeping.
Our time servers derive time from the atomic clocks aboard GPS satellites to securely deliver accurate time within nanoseconds of perfect. However, when the GPS signal is unavailable, the time server must derive time from its internal clock until the GPS connection is reestablished. In most time servers, the internal clock will drift fairly quickly away from accurate time. But with the optional Rubidium atomic clock in the time server, drift can be held to as little as 3 microseconds per day, allowing IT administrators to reestablish GPS contact without negatively impacting the accuracy of timekeeping on the network. There simply is no better way to keep accurate and affordable time on an IT network.
Get affordable reliability with Symmetricom's atomic time servers with Rubidium clocks
Symmetricom's GPS Network Time Servers are very simple to set up and maintain. It only takes a few keystrokes to bring the device online and administrators can configure the time server using step-by-step wizards for common operations. Remote access and full control of the device is available through a standard web interface.
Our time servers offer multiple ports and high capacity network interfaces to deliver increased flexibility and security. One port can be dedicated for secure maintenance while the others can be used for NTP timing functions. Symmetricom GPS Network Time Servers have the bandwidth to serve hundreds of thousands of network clients simultaneously. And with support for IPv4 and IPv6, our time servers can adapt easily to any existing and future network topology.
