XL-GPS

High Value, Network Managed Time and Frequency Receiver

Symmetricom’s XL-GPS Time and Frequency Receiver is a high performance instrument that provides an assortment of precision time and frequency outputs. This high value, networked managed, time and frequency instrument supports requirements for, test and measurement, central timing systems, process automation, range timing systems, power industry applications and many others.

At the core of the XL-GPS is Symmetricom’s advanced XLi technology which assures ultra accurate and reliable performance. The XL-GPS offers cost-effective functionality and ease-of-use where the XLi-GPS offers modularity and extensibility through multiple option slots and modules.

Nanosecond Accuracy
The XL-GPS clock is extremely accurate to within 30 nanoseconds RMS to Coordinated Universal Time - UTC (USNO). The clock is driven by an integrated 12 channel GPS satellite receiver with Time Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitoring (TRAIM) to protect against faulty satellite signals. Ultra-stable frequency outputs are accurate to less than 1x10-12 long term. For improved short-term stability and holdover performance, an ovenized oscillator option is available.

Variety of Outputs
The XL-GPS provides a variety of standard time and frequency outputs including one pulse-per-second (1PPS), IRIG B time code (AM & DC), programmable rates between 1PPS and 10MPPS, and an open collector alarm output. A Programmable Pulse Output (PPO) is available as a software option. The front panel display provides operators with “at-a-glance” system status.

Versatile
The versatile XL-GPS supports analysis of 1, 5, 10 MHz frequencies via the Frequency Measurement (FM) option. Precise event time tagging and time interval measurements to 5 nanosecond resolution are supported via the Time Interval/Event Timing (TI/ET) option. The Network Time Server (NTS) option enables the unit as a Stratum 1 Network Time Protocol (NTP) server to synchronize networked computers and devices.

Options
An optional, user configurable Expansion Module provides four, user configurable, independent outputs to fan out the standard XL-GPS signals to applications requiring additional outputs.
