San Jose, Calif. — May 9, 2005 — Symmetricom, Inc. (NASDAQ:SYMM), a leading worldwide supplier of network synchronization and timing solutions, today announced the appointment of Robert “Bob” Stanzione to the company’s Board of Directors.
Stanzione is the chairman and chief executive officer of Arris Group Inc. (NASDAQ:ARRS), a global communications technology leader in the development of advanced cable telephony solutions and the delivery of converged services across the broadband local access network. Arris was formed by the merger of ANTEC and Arris Interactive, LLC in August 2001.
“We welcome Bob Stanzione to Symmetricom’s Board of Directors,” said Thomas Steipp, Symmetricom President and CEO. “Bob’s outstanding record of success in the cable telephony and advanced communications industries will be of great value to our team, especially as we pursue emerging opportunities for sync and timing in next-generation networks, including the cable market.”
Stanzione joined ANTEC in 1998 as President, COO, and Director. He was appointed CEO on January 1, 2000. Prior to joining ANTEC, he was President and CEO of Arris Interacive, LLC, a Nortel Networks/ANTEC joint venture. At Arris, Stanzione grew the venture from a start up company to a world market leader in cable telephony and high-speed data products. From 1969 to 1995, Stanzione held a wide range of senior management positions with AT&T Network Systems (now Lucent).
“Symmetricom has tremendous potential to actively participate in the build-out of next-generation networks for cable and telecom service providers,” said Bob Stanzione. “I look forward to working with other members of the board to help maximize Symmetricom’s success.”
Stanzione holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Clemson University, and an ME degree in Industrial Engineering from North Carolina State University. He serves as a Director of CoaXmedia and Evolve Products, Inc.
