“With David Nicholas leading our sales efforts in the cable industry, we’re in a solid position to support the rollout of DOCSIS 3.0 and the video quality assurance needs of the cable industry,” said Tom Steipp, president and chief executive officer of Symmetricom. “We are excited and remain very committed to serving the needs of the cable industry and look forward to a long and strategic partnership with key cable industry leaders.”
“I am very pleased to be joining Symmetricom at such an exciting time for the company. Building upon 50 years of experience in the communications industry, Symmetricom entered cable in 2007 with its DOCSIS® Timing Interface (DTI) server, the TimeCreator™ 1000. Qualified by CableLabs®, TimeCreator1000 is a network time synchronization system specifically designed for cable networks, enabling key revenue generating service offerings such as video on demand (VoD), high definition (HD) and broadband data services.
This year, Symmetricom launched its V-FACTOR® Quality of Experience (QoE) Platform for cable, which delivers a perceptual video quality monitoring solution that cable operators need today to satisfy subscriber expectations for better video quality. V-FACTOR enables the end-to-end monitoring of key sources of potential video and audio impairments by providing a scalable solution that accurately assesses consumers’ video quality experience, precisely as a real viewer perceives it.
Today Symmetricom announced it is combining the Telecom Solutions division and the Quality of Experience (QoE) division to leverage synergies and bring additional operational efficiencies to the organization.
