Dr. Stefan Winkler to Address Ensuring High Quality Video and Service Availability for IPTV and Other IP Video Customers

Q-1000 Demonstrated at NAB, Exhibit C4544

SAN JOSE, Calif. — April 7, 2008 — Symmetricom, Inc. (NASDAQ: SYMM) today announced that Dr. Stefan Winkler, principal technologist for Symmetricom’s QoE Assurance Division, will be a featured speaker at Telecom2008, co-located at NAB, April 11-17, 2008 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.  In addition, Symmetricom’s QoE Assurance Division is 
demonstrating the Q-1000 portion of its V-FACTOR perceptual video quality monitoring solution at NAB, exhibit C4544.  V-FACTOR enables service providers to understand actual video service quality through fine-grained perceptual video quality analysis to reduce operational costs and accelerate the growth of IP-based video services.

Telecom2008 brings together carriers to explore content creation, acquisition, management, protection and distribution.  Telecom2008’s four tracks at NAB explore the business strategies and technology necessary to build an IPTV business.

Dr. Winkler’s presentation, “Ensuring High Service Availability and Quality for IPTV and Other IP Video Customers,” focuses on primary considerations along the service delivery chain that can have an impact on service quality from the end user perspective.

One of the world’s top experts in digital media quality, Dr. Winkler serves as a principal technologist at Symmetricom’s QoE Assurance Division. He was formerly chief scientist and co-founder of Genista Corporation, a provider of quality assurance solutions for IPTV and mobile media. He has also held assistant professor positions at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and has worked for Hewlett-Packard, Siemens, German Aerospace and Andersen Consulting. Dr. Winkler has published more than 40 papers on perceptual quality measurement and is the author of the book, “Digital Video Quality.” He has also been a member and contributor of the Video Quality Experts Group (VQEG) since its founding in 1997. Dr. Winkler holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Technology in Vienna, Austria and a doctorate from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland.
