• Sources, selects, and qualifies components used in the company’s technology
• Investigates alternate component technologies or supplies, reducing cost and improving quality and reliability
• Acts as technical interface between component/production suppliers and development engineers determining new and alternate sources. Investigates alternate component technologies or supplies for reduced cost or improved quality and reliability, and implements changes
• Develops guidelines/procedures on vendor selection
• Evaluates supplier change notification and qualifies changes, as needed
• May maintain component data management system including qualification records/results/documentation
• Research, evaluate and qualify new components for HW design
• Research component substitutions
• Follow EOL trends
• Provide component documentation
• Enter components in design and manufacturing databases
• Research component material composition and maintain this information in databases.
• Maintain AVL database
• Process component related RESs

Essential Qualifications:

• BS degree or associate degree with extensive experience
• 10 years of varied (active, passive, interconnect, etc.) experience as a component engineer
• Direct experience with ERP (Agile experience is a plus)
• Familiarity with ROHS requirements
• Familiarity with trends in component materials restriction and classification. Example China ROHS and classification of components by percentage breakdown of materials.

Desired Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Agile workflow tools
• Familiarity with reliability engineering concepts such as calculation of MTBF using Telcordia guidelines
