- Coordinate and provide support to the Quality department in the area of Supplier and Product Quality.
- Perform complex tasks to develop, apply and maintain quality requirements of products during design through manufacturing. Assist as directed in meeting department goals and objectives as established by Quality Department Management.
- Implement and facilitate Continuous Improvement activities. This includes quality, productivity and effectiveness improvement in quality and manufacturing, as well as non-manufacturing areas utilizing Six Sigma tools and practices
- Performs reject analysis and reject verification to provide feedback to Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering for the purpose of process improvement, and to Engineering for the purpose of design improvement. Provides special testing, process capability studies, repeatability studies and equipment correlations as required.
- Assist in the conducting of supplier quality system audits for the purpose of evaluating and re-evaluating suppliers. Ability to perform process audits at supplier sites. Must be able to travel both domestically and internationally.
- Coordinate the design, purchase and/or construction of equipment needed for determining the acceptability of purchased materials, parts, sub-assemblies, assemblies and products.
- Provide routine reporting to company management on observed trends in procured material quality and product quality, making recommendations for improvement and corrective action.
- Perform such individual assignments as assigned; establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department, the group, the Corporation and the community; and maintain the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
- Extensive experience with machine shops and sheet metal suppliers. Must have intimate knowledge of the processes used to fabricate machine and sheet metal parts. Experience with metal castings and their processes a plus.
- Knowledge of Circuit Board Assemblies and contract manufacturing practices.
- Develop supplier assessment processes for mechanical suppliers, including PPAP processes.
- Assist Inspectors with piece part quality issues and drive corrective action to completion. Interface with suppliers to resolve quality issues. Also interface with Engineering to enhance drawings and requirements that impact supplier’s ability to produce that part.
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Electronics, Applied Science or Business, or equivalent experience.
- 5-7 years experience in Supplier Quality and the quality disciplines, and in the establishment and implementation of quality systems. Specialized training in electronics component manufacture and mechanical part fabrication, in quality inspection techniques, Total Quality Management and Continuous Improvement/Employee Involvement.
- Working knowledge of various industrial processes, such as, bare board fabrication, contract manufacturing (pcb), plating, die-casting, welding, soldering, machining, and sheet metal fabrication etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, drawings, blueprints, etc.
- Ability to effectively relate with others and cooperate as a team member.
- Ability to perform essential functions and responsibilities with limited supervision.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as copiers, computer terminals, personal computers, etc.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 & Tl9000 and quality assurance principles.
- Ability to make decisions based on directives, and procedures.
- Ability to make effective presentations
- Capable of leadership in a cross-department environment.
- Proficient in Access database or MS Excel, and MS Word
- Experience with internal and external auditing.
Desired Qualifications:
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or (CQA)
- Certified Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
- Experience with outsourcing of metal parts and assemblies internationally.
- Certified IPC-A-610
- Oracle experience, especially in its use for Supplier measurement and control.
- High skill level in assembly and test of electronic devices.
